Bulls Use Team Effort to Cool Off Brown, 5-2

By TOM ZEBOLD

TAMPA – The Bulls clinched the doubles point and rolled past Brown, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon at the USF Varsity Courts.

USF (7-7) snapped Brown's six-match winning streak by getting singles wins from Oliver Pramming, Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz, Federico Sabogal and Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard.

“It's huge that we're firing on all cylinders as opposed to maybe four out of six or three out of six, which is kind of where we were at a couple of weeks ago,” head coach Matt Hill said. “That's what you want to see as a coach by the end of the year.”

Pramming and Gonzalez-Muniz posted an 8-3 doubles win and then continued to excel in the top two singles slots. Pramming toughed out a 7-5, 7-5 win over Michael Riechmann and Gonzalez-Muniz rallied past Mike Hill, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

“They're probably our most consistent performers and they're playing in the highest positions in the lineup,” Hill said. “That's not easy to do, especially for a sophomore that played in and out of the lineup last year and freshman who has been here for three months.”

The Bulls wrap up a tough week with a battle against No. 63 UNC-Wilmington 2 p.m. Friday at the USF Varsity Courts. Admission is free.

“I don't think their ranking reflects their level at all,” Hill said. “It's going to be a really tough match for us, so hopefully we'll have good crowd support and a solid team effort from the guys to keep rolling.”
