Bulls Bounce Back Against BC

TAMPA – USF (5-7) split the series against Boston College with a 9-4 win on Wednesday night at USF baseball stadium.

“We did a good job tonight,” said Prado. “It was a good team win.”

Boston College got things going early plating two runs in the first inning.

The Bulls answered with four runs in the first.  Austin Lueck walked with the bases loaded to get one run back and Levi Borders followed with a three-RBI double to center field to clear the bases and give the Bulls a 4-2 lead.

USF kept things rolling in the second to take a 7-2 advantage when Nik Alfonso scored on a groundout and Chris Norton hit a two-RBI single that scored Alex Mendez and Kyle Teaf.

Norton went 2-for-4 with two RBI's.  The senior is batting .438 for the season.

Boston College got two runs back on fielding errors before the Bulls were able to put the game away.

The Bulls hit back-to-back two out singles in the sixth to take a commanding 9-4 lead.

Starting pitcher Nolan Thomas pitched three innings.  The left-hander allowed three runs on three hits and struck out six batters.

“It was a good start for Nolan,” said Prado

The Bulls will start a three-game series against Valparaiso 7 p.m. Friday at USF baseball stadium.  The series will continue 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

“We have to get to practice tomorrow, get better and get ready for the weekend,” said Prado.
