TAMPA - Anthony Diaz produced the go-ahead hit in the 15^th inning and No. 28 USF extended its season-high winning streak to 11 games with a 7-4 victory at UConn on Saturday.

Diaz's RBI single sparked the three-run frame as USF (25-14, 9-2) sealed the series victory in Storrs, Conn. Kyle Teaf added an RBI sacrifice bunt in the inning and extended his on-base streak to 33 games with a bunt single in the 12th inning.

Outfielder Alex Mendez (1-0) became USF's ninth pitcher of the day and got the win after throwing 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Saturday marked the third time in the past five games that USF has played at least 13 innings.

Diaz wound up going 3-for-7 with two RBIs and his first run-scoring hit helped USF go ahead, 4-3, in the top of the ninth inning. Jimmy Falla and Kyle Copack started the three-run inning with RBI singles.

Austin Lueck went 2-for-3 and Chris Norton went 2-for-4 to help USF collect 17 hits in its longest game of the season. Zac Gilcrease went 2-for-6 with an RBI and Nik Alfonso also went 2-for-6 as USF stayed ahead in the Big East standings.

USF starter Nick Gonzalez struck out two and gave up two earned runs on seven hits in six innings. The quality start comes one day after freshman Jimmy Herget gave up two runs in 7 2/3 innings of the Bulls' 3-2 victory.

Sunday's series finale is set for a noon start and USF wraps up a five-game road trip with a test at Florida 7 p.m. Tuesday.
