TAMPA – Two Bulls registered their first career goals in USF's 2-0 win over Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at the Gamecock Classic in Columbia, S.C.
Freshman midfielder Marcus Epps got the Bulls (2-1-3) on the board early with a goal from 10 yards out in the 14th minute on an assist from Kennedy Selorm Adablah.
USF took a 1-0 lead into halftime after registering four shots in the first half.
Another Bulls' freshman got on the scoresheet in the 53rd minute when Lindo Mfeka tallied his first career goal to give USF a two score cushion. Gerardo Hernandez picked up his second assist of the season on the goal.
After picking up their second goal the Bulls were able to hold off the Wildcats attack to pick up their second win of the year.
Kentucky fired off seven shots in the second half, but the USF defense was up to the task, especially senior goalkeeper Brentton Muhammad.
Muhammad registered five saves, four in the second half, and picked up his second shutout this season in what turned out to be a very physical match.
There were six yellow cards handed out, three for Kentucky in the first half and three for the Bulls in the second half.
USF finished the Gamecock Classic as co-champions with Dartmouth after posting a 1-0-1 record. The Bulls tied South Carolina, 1-1, on Friday night.
