PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 19, 2014) – A chilly day in the Northeast did little to slow down the USF women's soccer team (9-6-1, 4-3-0 American) as it cruised to a 2-0 win over the Temple Owls (10-6-1, 3-4-1 American) Sunday afternoon.

For the second match in a row, the Bulls notched a goal just five minutes into the game. Sophomore Leticia Skeete was dragged down inside the box to set up a USF penalty kick. Senior Demi Stokes took the shot, sailing it past the Temple goalie to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead.

Stokes is now a perfect three-for-three on penalty kicks this year and all of her goals have been on PKs.

Junior Olivia Chance recorded her second goal of the weekend in the 78th minute with an assist by Stokes. Stokes sent a free kick towards Chance, who pounded it in to give USF the 2-0 lead. The goal was Chance's team leading eighth of the year.

Despite the lone goal in the first half, the Bulls were outplayed offensively in the first 45 minutes. The Owls led in shots (11-4), shots on goal (4-2) and corners (6-0). However, the second half proved much more in USF's favor as the Bulls outshot the Owls 6-4, while recording three shots on goal and earning three corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Kat Elliott carried over her dominant weekend performance, notching five saves in the shutout. Elliott now has three shutouts and 27 saves on the season.

The Bulls head back to Tampa for their final two regular season conference matches this weekend. USF faces off against Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. and East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be at Corbett Stadium and Sunday's match will be Senior Day.

The USF women's soccer team has posted two consecutive 10-plus win seasons and three in the last four years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance and recorded their first tournament victory in 2010. USF returns 23 players from last year's roster including All-American Athletic Conference second team forward Demi Stokes and All-Rookie Team defender Leticia Skeete. They also bring back 11 players that appeared in 15 or more games last season.
