Bulls Make Star Appearance at Twin Lakes Elementary

TAMPA (Nov. 21) - Physical education classes at Twin Lakes Elementary had a little extra excitement Thursday as the Bulls' team was on hand to offer instruction as part of this year's Great American Teach In.

The Bulls' spent the entire morning showing first grade through fifth grade students basic tennis skills and inspiring the kids to play tennis as well as work hard in school. Men's team volunteer assistant coach Gary Needelman was also on hand. Though a first year coach at USF, Needelman has offered Great American Teach In clinics at the elementary school for the past 14 years.

“You never know for sure the extent of the positive impact you can have on these children to become tennis players,” he said. “But you can definitely feel the excitement about tennis your time with them generates.”

The Great American Teach In is an annual Tampa Bay area event in which business leaders and professionals volunteer to spend a day at school teaching classes in their respective fields of expertise.

Twin Lakes is one of a few schools that offer tennis as part of its physical education classes on a regular basis. In addition to getting extra help from last season's American Athletic Conference Championship team, each student got to take home a souvenir tennis ball signed by some of their newest idols. The team also donated four cases of tennis balls to the school for use in their P.E. Classes.
