TAMPA, MARCH 1, 2014 – Two five-run innings put the game out of reach early on as the Bulls roared past the Loyola Marymount Lions at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

Juli Weber led the offense, going 3-for-4 while setting career high in hits, runs (two) and RBI (three).

USF also had another outstanding performance in the circle from Sara Nevins, who threw a complete game shutout while allowing only two hits.

Three different players recorded multiple RBIs as the Bulls run-ruled their third straight opponent with a 10-0 win over the Lions.

The Bulls kicked off the scoring with five runs on five hits in the second inning. Karla Claudio singled to score Kourtney Salvarola for the game's first run and the flood gates opened from there. Weber recorded her first RBI of the game on a fielder's choice and Stephanie Medina had a two-run single up the middle to give the Bulls a five-run lead heading into the third inning.

The offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the third, tacking on another five runs to blow the game wide open. Weber singled up the middle with the bases loaded to score Salvarola and Veronica Gajownik to increase the lead to seven. After a pitching change by Loyola Marymount, Allie Patierno came in to pinch hit and laced a ball into right field for a two-run triple and her first two RBI of the year. She would come around to score two batters later to account for the final run of the game.

USF matched its highest scoring output of the season and set a new season high with 12 hits. In the past four games, the Bulls have outscored their opponents 30-3, going 4-0 in that span.

Nevins helped USF post its second consecutive shutout, pitching five innings while striking out seven batters en route to picking up her seventh straight win.

“We had good pitching, good defense and good run production today, but we still need to be better,” head coach Ken Eriksen said after the game.

The Bulls conclude play at the Under Armour Invitational on Sunday with two games at the USF Softball Stadium. Play kicks off at 3:30 p.m., when USF faces off against old Big East foe Villanova before taking on Maine immediately after. Purchase tickets HERE.
