USF Completes Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, MARCH 21, 2014 – USF had nine event winners during the two-day Bulls Invitational which concluded Friday at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Courtney Anderson (Cape Coral) placed first in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet-8.00. Natasha Stewart (Ocala) won the long jump on Thursday with a jump of 20-9.00.
Seven of the first place finishes came from the USF men.
Alfred Higgs (Bahamas) won the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.42, the fourth best time in school history. The Bulls went one-and-two in the 400 meter dash with Franklin Mosely (Tampa, 48.48) and Derek Messmore (49.55), respectively.
Higgs joined Derrick Hopkins (Opa Locka), Chareif Lewis (Clermont) and Dae Young Yoon (Hollywood) to win the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 41.14.
Devin Screen (Tallahassee) followed his winning hammer throw (181-01) from Thursday with a first place finish in the shot put (51-4.50) on Friday which ranks seventh all-time at USF. Justin Osking (Fort Pierce), who ranks second in school history from his performance last season, placed second with a throw of 48-11.50.
Chase Meyers (Punta Gorda) won the high jump with a best leap of 6-8.00. Michael Babinec (Riverview) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:42.96.
USF will next compete in the Texas Relays held next Thursday through Saturday in Austin, Texas. The Bulls are next at home on April 4 at the South Florida Collegiate. Follow the track and field team all season long on twitter @USFTrack.
