TAMPA, Fla., MARCH 29, 2014 – USF won six men's titles as the Bulls' track and field team wrapped up the two-day UCF Invitational Saturday in Orlando.
Sophomore Michael Babinec (Riverview) won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:37.36. Sophomore Alex Hoffman (Melbourne) won the 800m in a time of 1:57.04. Freshman Chris Grinley took the 400m hurdles in a time of 54.42.
Junior Devin Screen (Tallahassee) won the hammer throw with a mark of 172-feet-06 inches and the discus with a throw of 173-11.
USF represented the top four finishes in the pole vault with senior Wyatt Metzger (Orlando) placing first with a clearance of 15-9. Winston Perry (Fort Lauderdale) placed second as it took him two attempts to clear 15-9 as opposed to Metzger who cleared it in one. Cody Chernoff (Naples) placed third (14-9) and Edward Galan (Clearwater) placed four (14-3).
Senior Courtney Anderson (Cape Coral) was USF's final competitor at the four-day Texas Relays as she finished fourth in the Section A high jump with a mark of 1.78m.
The Bulls will next host the USF Collegiate on Friday at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
