
Triple Jump Leads USF Track and Field

TAMPA, April 19, 2014 – Two triple jump titles led the USF track and field teams on Saturday as the squad competed at the LSU Alumni Gold and the Tom Jones Memorial.
Sophomore Matthew O'Neal (Jackson, Miss.) won the triple jump with a distance of 52-feet-10.25 while Shane Lewis (Orlando) tied for second place (51-5.75) at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La. Marqueshia Stallworth (Loxahatchee) won the women's triple jump with a distance of 42-0, 3.5 inches better than second place Lynnika Pitts of LSU (41-8.5).
Devin Screen, which holds the second best hammer throw in school history, finished seventh in the event with a distance of 186-11, better than his previous best of 181-1 earlier this season.
At the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville, USF placed second, fourth and fifth in the women's pole vault. Sophia Brown (Goshen, Ind.) was second at 11-5.75, Mallory Johnson (Hobe Sound) was fourth at 10-10 and Molly Beckman (St. Johns) was fifth at 10-10.
Winston Perry (Fort Lauderdale) won the men's pole vault with a personal best height of 16-1.75.
The Bulls will next compete at the American Athletic Conference Championships on May 2-4 at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
