AMBLER, PA., MAY 4, 2014Stephanie Medina drove in a season-high five runs as the Bulls cruised to a 12-0 win over the Owls in game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader at Temple Softball Stadium.

The Tampa native went 3-for-3 for the game and her five RBI marked the most by any Bull this season.

The Bulls (39-14, 13-5) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring in the top of the first thanks to a two-out RBI double by Medina. Kourtney Salvarola (Arnold, Md.) scored from second on the play after she reached base on an infield single and stole second earlier in the inning.

The senior first baseman came up with another big hit in the third, driving home Ashli Goff (Tampa) with a single to center field to give her two RBI on the day and the Bulls a 2-0 lead.

USF tacked on another run in the fourth thanks to some good base running by Kristen Wyckoff and a throwing error by Temple's catcher Kaylyn Zierke. The freshman from Plant City, Fla., reached on an infield single and then stole second and third on consecutive pitches. Zierke's throw to third sailed into left field allowing Wyckoff to score and increase the Bulls' lead to three.

The Owls (15-28, 5-13) picked up their only hit of the ballgame in the fourth with a double off the right center field wall by Leah Lucas, but she was stranded there to end the inning.

Sara Nevins (Pinellas Park, Fla.) pitched six scoreless innings while striking out 10 for her third straight win of the weekend. The senior ace reached double-digit strikeouts for the 11th time this season and improved to 26-7 on the year.

Medina continued her monster day with her third home run of the season in the top of the fourth to give the Bulls a 6-0 lead. The three-run shot over the right field fence gave Medina a season-high five RBI, the most by any Bull this season.

Lee Ann Spivey (Palm Coast, Fla.) got in on the action with a three-run homer of her own in the seventh to increase the lead to nine.

The Bulls didn't stop there, adding another three runs in the frame after an RBI single by Morgan Litchfield (Tampa) and a two-run double by Kassandra Moeller (Fredericksburg, Va.) for her first two career RBI. Meagan Leddy (Jacksonville, Fla.) also picked up her first-career hit and run in the inning, helping USF take a 12-0 lead.

Sam Greiner (Sparta, N.J.) came in to finish things off in the bottom of the seventh, recording three straight outs after allowing the first two batters to reach base.

In all, 10 different players recorded a hit for the Bulls with three posting multiple RBI.

With the win, USF wrapped up conference play and clinched the No. 2 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament, which will be held in Houston on May 8-10.

The Bulls wrap up regular-season play with one more game against Temple at approximately 2:30 p.m. Both teams agreed to add the fourth game to the schedule a few weeks back and It will not count as a conference game.
