DALLAS (Oct. 18, 2015)— The USF women's soccer team picked up its second straight shutout of the weekend, defeating the SMU Mustangs, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.

The Bulls are now 13-2-2 on the season and 6-1-1 in conference play. The 13 wins this season, ties the team win total from 2014 and the Bulls are just two wins away from tying the school record of wins in a season (15).

Senior Olivia Chance got the Bulls on the board in the 24th minute. Senior Allie Rossi took a free kick just outside the 18 yard box and found Chance who punched in her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

With just 42 seconds left in the first half, senior Yaya Martinez recorded her first career goal. A USF corner kick, taken by Cristina Ferral, set up the play for Martinez who slid the ball past the SMU goalkeeper.

The Bulls defense allowed no shots by SMU in the first half as USF outshot the Mustangs, 6-0. Trudi Carter led the Bulls in the first half, recording three shots. The Mustangs outshot the Bulls 9-5 in the second half, but USF finished with an 11-9 shot advantage.

Sophomore keeper Kat Elliott picked up her second shutout of the weekend, making one save in the game. Elliott now has seven shutouts on the season, 60 saves and a .54 goals against average.

The Bulls wrap up the regular season Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. as they take on instate rival UCF in Orlando. The conference tournament begins Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Dallas on the SMU campus.

The USF women's soccer team has posted three consecutive 10-plus win seasons and four in the last five years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014. USF returns 20 players from last year's roster including All-American Athletic Conference first team midfielder Olivia Chance and second team defender Jackie Simpson. They also bring back 12 players that appeared in 15 or more games last season.
