Bulls Land Six Players on All-Conference Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Nov. 12, 2015)— The USF men's soccer team placed six athletes on all-conference teams, the conference announced Thursday. The six players selected matches the 2014 total, with two repeat selections.

Brendan Hines-Ike, Nazeem Bartman and Lindo Mfeka all earned first team honors. Marcus Epps and Spasoje Stefanovic were named to the second team, and Prosper Figbe earned all-rookie honors.

Hines-Ike, a senior defender, was a unanimous first team selection in his first year as a Bull. He recorded two goals on the year and led a backline that has shutout eight opponents and allowed just 14 goals.

Bartman has had a breakout season after transferring from Tyler Junior College this season. The junior forward leads the team with seven goals and five assists for 19 points on the year. Five of his seven goals have come in conference play, with four of the five being game winners.

Mfeka is third on the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists. The junior midfielder earned first team honors for the second straight season and has been named to an all-conference team every year since arriving at USF.

Stefanovic was named to the second team after posting eight shutouts and a .75 goals against average as the Bulls everyday goalkeeper. The junior earned his second all-conference honor after being named to the first team in 2014.

Epps, a junior midfielder, was named to the second team after posting one goal and four assists on the year. This is the first all-conference honor for Epps who has seen action in every game since joining the Bulls.

In his first season as a Bull, Figbe has seen action in all but one game for USF. A freshman defender from Nigeria, he has helped the backline record eight shutouts on the year, while also recording seven shots, two on goal.

The Bulls are set for conference semifinal action Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium, streamed live on the American Digital Network. The finals of the conference tournament are slated for Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The men's soccer program has been one of the most successful on campus over the years, advancing to seven NCAA tournaments in the last eight seasons. The Bulls return 13 letterwinners and five starters from 2014 on top of bringing in the third-ranked signing class according to College Soccer News. They won the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship in 2013 and head coach George Kiefer has also led the Bulls to two Elite Eight appearances and four conference/division titles in his 13 seasons as the head man.
