NORMAN, Okla. (FEB. 6, 2015) – Two wins in doubles wasn't enough to propel the 25th-ranked USF men's tennis team past No. 2 Oklahoma as the Bulls (4-3) fell, 6-1, Friday night at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.
The night started off promising after USF's Roberto Cid and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz secured the doubles point at the No. 3 spot by defeating Florin Bragusi and Alex Ghilea, 7-6 (1). Vadym Kalyuzhnyy and Sasha Gozun also won in doubles, defeating OU's Andrew Harris and Spencer Papa, 6-3.
The Bulls could not keep the momentum in singles play as Oklahoma won four consecutive matches to seal the win. Although both Cid and Kalyuzhnyy were battling, OU's Papa defeated Oliver Pramming, 6-4, 7-5, to secure the win for the Sooners.
The Bulls continue their road slate this weekend with another opportunity to knock off a top ten team as they face No. 8 Ohio State. The Buckeyes have not lost at home in 199 matches and USF will look to end that streak on Sunday at noon.
