KENNESAW, Ga., MARCH 29, 2015 – USF women's tennis finished off a five-match week with a 5-2 victory at Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon.
Playing their third road match in three days, the Bulls (4-13) dropped the doubles point before storming back with five straight-set singles victories at Fair Oaks Park.
Sophomore Olga Martinez (Spain) extended her winning streak to four by holding off Jana Hueckinghaus, 6-2, 7-6. Freshman Juliana Cardoso (Brazil) posted her second victory in as many days with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Alexandra Mercado in the third singles position.
Freshman Jessica Cortes Chaves (Spain) played a three-set thriller Saturday against conference foe Tulane and finished the weekend in strong fashion with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Isabela Castro. Sophomore Hailey Grillo (Fort Myers, Fla.) cruised past Cristina Martin, 6-3, 6-1, and freshman Laura Argente Escamilla (Spain) rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ashleigh De Wet.
USF finishes up the regular season with a conference road test at Memphis on Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m. The American Athletic Conference Championships take place April 15-18 at Tulsa.
