GAINESVILLE (Jan. 27, 2016) – The Bulls battled against No. 3 Florida on Wednesday evening but came up short, 6-1, at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville.
The Bulls (0-2) received a special performance from freshman Vanja Klaric (Serbia) as she won her first singles match of the season, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, at the No. 6 spot. Klaric came out hot against her opponent and took the first set 6-1. After being forced into a deciding third set, Klaric battled back from a 3-2 third set deficit to win her match.
The No. 3 Gators came into the match riding a 147-match win streak at their home court, which dates back to the 2005 season. With five ranked players in their arsenal, the Gators took five of the six singles matches against the Bulls to ultimately clinch the match.
The Bulls continue their 2015-16 season against FGCU this Friday, Jan. 29 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts at noon. Admission is free to the public.
