ORLANDO, Fla., JAN. 6, 2016 – Senior center Jaleel Cousins recorded his sixth double-double of the season on Saturday in USF's 75-64 loss to UCF at CFE Arena.
The Mobile, Ala. native scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and added 13 rebounds including six on the offensive end. “A lot of it was him getting offensive rebounds and second and third efforts,” said USF head coach Orlando Antigua. “For him, that shows what he has been able to do with his conditioning and his energy. He's got to continue to build off of that.”
The Bulls (3-13, 0-3 The American) trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, but ended the period on a 16-4 run to trail 35-32 at the break. Junior forward Chris Perry scored the first three points of the second half to extend the Bulls' run to 19-4 and tie the game 35-35.
USF stayed within striking distance, cutting the deficit to three on four separate occasions and trailed by four points (66-62) after a Cousins layup with 2:44 remaining.
“We got away from getting to the rim, Antigua said about the Bulls' play in the final three minutes. “We got a little 3-point happy down the stretch.”
Five of the Bulls' final seven shot attempts were missed 3-pointers. For the game, USF shot 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from 3-point range. UCF (8-5, 2-0) shot very well from beyond-the-arc, finishing at 39.1 percent (9-of-23).

Perry scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds. Sophomore Bo Zeigler led the Bulls with a career-high five assists to go with four points.
