Viens Nets a Pair as Bulls Draw Cincinnati

Box Score

TAMPA (Oct. 23, 2016)— A one-goal lead wouldn't hold as the USF women's soccer team ended their final home match in a 2-2 draw with the Cincinnati Bearcats Sunday afternoon. USF is now 11-2-2 on the season and Cincinnati is 10-4-3. Both teams are 3-2-2 in conference play.

With USF leading 2-1 after Evelyne Viens' second goal of the match, the Bearcats struck in the 90th minute to tie the match at 2-all. Jaycie Brown found the back of the net off a set-piece to send the game to overtime.

The Bearcats would strike first in the first half, but USF responded just one minute later with Viens 12th goal of the season. Viens dribbled down the left side of the field, before launching a rocket of a shot from 20 yards out into the upper right corner.

Cincinnati's Vanessa Gilles scored in the 17th minute on a shot from just outside the six-yard box. After a few bounces from her teammates, Gilles settled the ball before finding the back of the net.

Viens netted her second goal of the match in the 76th minute, breaking through all the defenders before slotting the ball into the lower left corner.

The teams combined for just two shots in the two overtime periods, as the last 20 minutes of play were a defensive battle.
