TAMPA, FLA. (Feb.21, 2016)— The USF men's tennis team needed just under two hours to show why they're one of the top ranked teams in the nation, defeating No. 17 San Diego, 4-0, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. This is the second win over San Diego this season as the Bulls faced the Toreros at the ITA National Indoor Championships last week in Charlottesville, Va.

“I thought the guys continued to improve and get better,” head coach Matt Hill said. “Every day, every week they continue to look better and better. That's all we really care about here, is that were playing better in March than we did in February, and getting better into April and May. That's the goal.”

The Bulls got off to a fast start, as Roberto Cid (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz (Gijon Asturas, Spain) dominated in the No. 3 position, taking the match 6-1 over Joshua Page and Jaan Kononov. The clinching point for doubles came from Sasha Gozun and Vadym Kalyuzhnyy, who made it five straight wins with a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 spot.

Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) moved to 5-1 on the season after a 6-1,6-3 straight-set victory on court five. No. 26 Dominic Cotrone also took a win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, over Filip Vittek at the No. 2 spot.

Sasha Gozun clinched a match at home for a second time this year. In the No. 3 position, he took down No. 24 Jordan Angus, 7-5, 6-0. Gozun rallied from a 5-3 deficit to secure his first set and used the momentum to take the match with an easy 6-0 second set win.

The Bulls will look to defend their title in the Blue Gray Classic, hosted in Montgomery, Ala. on Thursday afternoon. The draw will be released on Tuesday, February 23
