Spivey's Walk-Off Homer Powers Bulls Past Marist

Box Score

TAMPA, MARCH 21, 2016— Lee Ann Spivey hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, pushing the Bulls past Marist, 9-0, Monday night. The Bulls have now won 17 straight games and posted 11 run-rule victories on the year with eight shutouts.

After three straight scoreless innings, the Bulls found their offensive power once again, plating five runs in the sixth.

Kassie Moeller and Astin Donovan reached on a hit-by-pitch and bunt single, respectively, to put two on with no outs. Weber recorded her third hit of the night, driving in the pair on a double to centerfield. Mia Fung followed with her team leading 18th extra-base hit, doubling in Weber to make it a 7-0 game.

Spivey took an 0-1 count well over the wall in centerfield for her seventh home run of the season. The senior now needs just six to break the USF all-time record.

USF jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an attempted double steal. Weber hit a one-out single and stole second before moving to third on an error by the third basemen. Spivey and Weber attempted a double steal, with Weber scoring before Spivey was caught in a pickle between first and second.

The Bulls extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second on a Cassidy Boyle RBI single that scored Lauren Evans from second. With two outs in the inning, the Bulls loaded the bases and Weber drove in a run on an RBI single. A wild pitch allowed Astin Donovan to score and give USF a 4-0 lead after two complete.

Susan Wysocki earned her seventh win of the season, throwing 4.0 innings, with six strikeouts, in relief of starting pitcher Cheyenne Eggens. Wysocki gave up no runs on one hits and one walk.

Donovan and Weber had the best offensive performances of the night, Donovan going 3-for-3 at the plate with one run. Weber turned in a 3-for-4 night with a run and three RBIs.

The Bulls are back in action Tuesday, March 22, when they take on Northwestern at 5 p.m. at the USF Softball Stadium. Conference play begins Thursday, March 24, at East Carolina for a three-game series.
