Nunn Shuts Out Tulsa, Bulls Win Game No. 40

Box Score

TULSA, Okla. (April 22, 2016) – Erica Nunn went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and threw 6.1 innings of two-hit ball as the USF softball team picked up its 40th win of the season in a 2-0 victory over Tulsa. Ken Eriksen's squad is now 40-11 on the season, amassing 40 wins for the fourth time in the last five years.

The Bulls have not allowed a run in 44 straight innings in conference play and have posted a shutout in their last six conference games. With a 12-1 conference record, eight of the games have been won in shutout fashion.

Nunn carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and finished with her 23rd win of the season, striking out four and allowing just two hits. Nunn has now thrown 31.1 scoreless innings in conference play.

The Bulls took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Nunn. Kristen Wyckoff singled and Juli Weber drew a walk to put two on with no outs. A perfectly executed sacrifice bunt from Lauren Evans moved the runners into scoring position for Nunn. The senior came through with a clutch two-out single to score Wyckoff and put the Bulls up 1-0.

With Mo Santos at the plate, USF executed a double steal, with Weber stealing home to make it a 2-0 game. Nunn recorded her first stolen base of the year on the play, while Weber now has 13 on the season.

The two runs would be all the Bulls would need as Nunn and the defense shut down the Golden Hurricane. USF recorded six hits, with four coming off the bats of Nunn and sophomore Astin Donovan.

The Bulls and Golden Hurricane will face off in game two of the series, Saturday, April 23, at 4 p.m. The series finale is set for 1 p.m. Sunday, April 24.
