TAMPA, AUG. 12, 2016 – Brandon Lawson became The American's strikeout king this past regular season and the former Bull continues to make hitters miss as a pro.
Lawson, a right-hander, has racked up 19 strikeouts in as many innings as a member of the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class-A New York-Penn League. The former all-conference pick improved his record to 4-1 on Sunday after securing his second save on July 19.
Lawson has posted a 2.37 ERA in 10 games since he was selected in the 12th round by the Tampa Bay Rays this June. Lawson's 2.50 ERA was the lowest among USF starters in 2016 and he led The American with 103 strikeouts in the regular season.

About USF Baseball
The University of South Florida baseball team is one of the fastest rising programs in the country. Under the guidance of first year head coach Mark Kingston, the Bulls reached the NCAA Regionals in 2015 for the first time in 13 years and USF followed that success with a consensus Top 10 recruiting class. Five players from that recruiting class were everyday starters in 2016 including outfielder Chris Chatfield (Riverview, Fla.), who led the team in home runs, and catcher Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.) who was named the PGCBL Player of the Year. The USF Baseball program has won five conference titles and the Bulls have made 11 NCAA appearances.
