Box Score TAMPA (Feb. 24, 2017) – The USF softball team dropped a tough 8-0 decision to Ole Miss, Friday night to begin the Hatter invitational. The Bulls dropped to 7-4 on the season, while Ole Miss improved to 9-2.
Ole Miss struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning. An RBI groundout would plate the first, followed by an RBI single and RBI double.
In the second, the Rebels would plate another three runs. A bases-clearing double would give Ole Miss the 6-0 lead after two. The Rebels would plate another two runs in the game, one in the fourth and one in the sixth for the run-rule victory.
The Bulls had their best scoring chance in the top of the sixth. With two outs, Brooke Hartman walked and Sam Worrell singled to put two on. Morgan Gross drew a walk, loading the bases. Cassidy Boyle would hit a deep ball to right field, but the Ole Miss right fielder was able to make the catch on the run to end the threat.
