Box Score TAMPA (March 19, 2017) – The USF softball team picked up its 20th win of the season, defeating Florida A&M, 4-3, Sunday afternoon.
Sam Worrell put the Bulls up early, launching her sixth home run of the season to give USF the 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Astin Donovan led off the inning with an infield hit, followed by a single from Kelsey Lay. A sacrifice bunt from Bethaney Keen moved the runners into scoring position, bringing up Worrell.
On a 0-1 count, Worrell launched her fourth home run in five days, hitting the top of the batting facility in left field to give USF the lead.
In the second, USF added a run on a bases-loaded walk to Lay. A pair of singles and an error loaded the bases, and a full-count walk to Lay would plate Gross, making it 4-0 after two.
FAMU would get a run in each of the next two innings to cut the lead in half. In the third, the Rattlers used an error with a runner at third to plate a run. In the fourth, a wild pitch would plate a second run.
An RBI single by the Rattlers in the fifth would make it a one-run game.
