Bulls Topped in Gainesville by No. 2 Gators

Box Score

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 22, 2017) – The USF softball team couldn't get the bats going, falling 8-0 in five innings to the No. 2 Florida Gators.

The Gators would take an early lead in the bottom of the second. A one-out triple from Jaimie Hoover would score on an RBI groundout by Jordan Roberts giving Florida the 1-0 lead.

Florida would jump out to a 6-0 lead with a five-run third inning.

The Gators loaded the bases with no outs, before a force out at home would put one on the board. With the bases still loaded, a walk would push a run across making it a 2-0 game. Jordan Roberts would come to the plate and hit a grand slam, giving Florida the 6-0 lead after three innings.

In the fourth, an RBI single would make it 7-0 Florida and a bases-loaded walk in the fifth would give the Gators the 8-0 run-rule win.

The Bulls had a scoring opportunity in the fifth inning as Lindsey Devitt doubled with one out and moved to third on a fielder's choice. With runners at second and third, a play at the plate would put two outs on the board and a popup would end the Bulls' threat.
