ORLANDO (April 19, 2017) – Junior Jessica Cortes Chaves clinched a 4-0 sweep of Temple for USF in the opening match of the American Athletic Conference tournament.
The Bulls came out strong, with five courts taking first-set wins in singles. Nicole Dzenga and Juliana Cardoso finished in straight-sets to put the Bulls just one court away from victory before Cortes Chaves clinched the match 6-0, 6-3.
Dzenga defeated Mariana Bedon 6-1, 6-0 on four and Cardoso put up a 6-2, 6-1 mark over Galina Chernykh on court three.
Ana Roman Dominguez and Dzenga posted a quick 6-2 win to kick off doubles on three, and Bessonova and Martinez clinched the doubles point, 6-4, on court one.

The Bulls will move on to face Tulane in a 3 p.m. match Thursday at the USTA National Campus in pursuit of the conference championship.
