TAMPA (April 22, 2017) – Cheyenne Eggens had a phenomenal outing in the circle, leading USF to a 6-0 win over Memphis to clinch the series. The Bulls are now 28-21, 7-6 on the year, while Memphis fell to 23-22, 4-7.
After a leadoff single to start the game, Eggens retired the next 17 batters she faced, before a two-out error in the sixth inning. The sophomore allowed just two hits in 5.2 phenomenal innings, facing just three batters over the minimum.
USF used a three-run third to take the lead over the Tigers. Using a pair of walks and a bunt single from Astin Donovan, the Bulls loaded the bases for Kassie Moeller. Moeller dropped a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in the first run.
With the bases loaded after a walk to Sam Worrell, Bethaney Keen ripped a double down the left field line, plating Donovan and Kristen Wyckoff to make it a 3-0 game.
In the sixth, the Bulls plated another three runs to extend their lead.
Brooke Hartman doubled to plate Lindsey Devitt, before coming home on an RBI single from Donovan. A two-out fielding error would plate Donovan, making it 6-0 after six complete.
