TAMPA, FEB. 1, 2019 – The USF track and field team continues its indoor schedule this weekend when the Bulls travel to Staten Island, N.Y., to take part in the Villanova Invitational hosted by Villanova University.
Competition opens Saturday at 4 p.m. with the women's weight throw in field events and the women's 60-meter hurdles in track events.
USF enters the week coming off a strong showing last weekend as the Bulls claimed six individual combined titles at the Hawkeye Invitational and the Houston Invitational. Junior Adriana Janic (Malmo, Sweden) etched her name in the USF record books on Friday at the Houston Invitational when she captured the individual title in the pentathlon with three of the top-10 marks in school history.
Janic collected 3,844 points to claim the title and finished with 121 more points than the second-place finisher. In addition, that mark is the second-highest scoring output in indoor school history and currently ranks seventh in the NCAA in the event.
At the Hawkeye Invitational, senior Chelsea Francis claimed the individual title in the 200 meters with a time of 24.48. In field events, sophomore Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) won the high jump and tied the seventh-best indoor mark in school history with a height of 5-07.00. Freshman Arielle Boone (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) took the title in the triple jump with a distance of 37-08.75.
USF captured the pole vault title for both the men and women, as senior Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) won with a height of 13-01.50 and senior David Bell (Jacksonville) won the pole vault with a height of 17-04.50. Bell would go on to be named the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his performance.
