USF Hosts Weekend Tournament

TAMPA, Feb. 27, 2020 – The University of South Florida softball team continues a string of home games with a tournament Friday through Sunday hosted at USF Softball Stadium. The USF Tournament features Rutgers, Syracuse and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
South Florida recently wrapped up a four-game sweep at the USF Invitational. The weekend featured USF's 27th no-hitter, two walk-off wins and a comeback victory. For their efforts, Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was named The American Pitcher of the Week and Brooke Hartman (Port Orange, Fla.) was named to the conference's weekly honor roll.
A midweek doubleheader at FGCU was postponed due to rain. The games will be rescheduled.
A round robin on Friday and Saturday will be used to seed the teams for a tournament bracket. Semifinals will be played on Saturday afternoon, with the finals being played on Sunday.

- Katie Wingert (C - So.) – Wingert has been a dual-threat hitter for Rutgers this season. She has the third highest OPS on the team (.859), but hits with power (four home runs, .548 slugging percentage) while also getting on base (.311 on-base percentage).
- Jaden Vickers (P - Fr.) – Vickers has led the team in the circle this season. She's tallied a 3.17 ERA with a 2-2 record.

- Sydney Hoyt (P – Fr.): Hoyt, while being a pitcher, leads the team on offense as well. The freshman has a 1.423 OPS in 12 games played. She's hit three home runs with nine RBI.
- Jenika Lombrana (P – So.): Lombrana has pitched the bulk of the Islanders innings so far this season. To date, she's tallied a 2.19 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 38.1 innings pitched.

- Neli Casares-Maher (IF – Jr.): Casares-Maher leads the team in multiple offensive categories. The junior has a .314/.415/.543 slash with five extra-base hits and six RBIs.
- Alexa Romero (P- Sr.): Romero has been the go-to pitcher for most of Syracuse's season. The senior leads the team with 37.2 innings pitched, and has tallied a 3.16 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP.
