The Bulls Head to Gainesville to Face Ranked Opponents

South Florida will compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend

Tampa, Fla (Jan. 24, 2023) – After a successful end of the week outing that evened out their record the Bulls will go to Gainesville, Fla. for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend where they will face Florida and Mississippi State or SMU.

Mississippi State transfer Davide Tortora who is ranked No. 69 nationally has gone 2-1 in singles in his past three matches. His other ranked teammate, No. 67 Alvin Tudorica, has also played strong going 3-0 this past weekend in singles play. 

Aussie newcomers Thomas Pavlekovich-Smith and Elijah Cham continue to integrate themselves well into the team. Both were able to find multiple successes in doubles and singles play.
 
A Look at the Florida Gators
The No. 16 Gators are 1-1 on the season. They lost 2-5 to No. 8 Texas but won against Central Florida 6-1 on Jan. 21. Like the Bulls, the Gators have two ranked players in singles- No. 51 Nate Bonetto and No. 93 Jonah Braswell.

They boast three ranked doubles pairs- No. 10 Tanapatt Nirundorn / Togan Tokac, No. 37 Nate Bonetto/ Axel Nefve and T-43 Jonah Braswell/ Lukas Greif.

This will be the thirteenth meeting between the two teams. The Gators own the series, 12-0.
 
A Look at the Mississippi State
The RV Bulldogs enter the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. Freshman Peter Jovanovic comes in at 107 in ITA singles rankings.

South Florida has seen Mississippi State four times and trails, 1-3.
 
A Look at the SMU Mustangs
The Mustangs sit at 5-1 this season, four of those wins coming by sweeps. Last season, the Bulls saw SMU twice and failed to claim victory during both of those meetings. However, the Green and Gold lead the series 8-4.
