TULSA, Okla. (October 3, 2023) – The University of South Florida men's soccer (2-6, 0-2) heads Oklahoma for a midweek battle against Tulsa (4-3-2, 2-0) on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m ET. and the match will air on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls have won two of their last five matches.
Jalen Anderson leads USF with 4 goals on the year and
Ajmeer Spengler has a team-best four assists. Tulsa has won three of its last five matches. In their last match, the Golden Hurricanes beat UAB, 1-0.
SOUTH FLORIDA-TULSA SERIES
USF has won nine of 16 all-time meetings against Tulsa, which extends back to the 1999 season. The Bulls are looking for their fourth away win in Tulsa territory. In the last clash, South Florida bested Tulsa, 2-1 at home (Oct. 9, 2022).
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida fell to FIU, 2-1, on Friday (Sept. 29) in their second league contest. The Panthers netted a pair of goals early in the second half (53' & 63') and South Florida's
Jalen Anderson sliced the Panthers advantage in half by scoring off of a penalty kick (83').

Malik Henry-Scott is Tulsa's leading goal scorer with four on the year Sergio Baena is second on the team with three. Tom Protzek is Tulsa's leading assister with three on the season.
A LOOK AHEAD
South Florida returns home to Corbett Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 8 for a meeting with Charlotte. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. and the match will air on ESPN+. The Sunday night showdown is our Breast Cancer Awareness Game (Pink Rally Towels for first 500 fans) and Bark with the Bulls Night.
USF ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Alumni Jeff Attinella has been selected as a member of the 2023 USF Athletics Hall of Fame Class and will be inducted on Thurs., Nov. 9. Attinella is one of two student-athletes to receive that honor in USF men's soccer history. An NSCAA First-Team All-American goalkeeper (2009), a three-time All-Region selection, and three-time Big East All-Conference honoree, earning first-team honors in both in 2009, Attinella played on four NCAA Tournament Teams and helped lead the 2007 team to the NCAA Sweet 16 and the 2008 team to the NCAA Elite Eight.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.
