South Florida Men’s Tennis Opens Eight-Match Homestand on Saturday

The Bulls will have a doubleheader on Saturday against Pacific and UNC Wilmington.

TAMPA, Fla. (March 10, 2023) – The No. 64 University of South Florida men's tennis team will play at home for the first time since Jan. 22 when it takes the court against the University of the Pacific and UNC Wilmington in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 11.

The Pacific match will start at 10 a.m. while the match against UNCW begins at approximately 2:30 p.m.

South Florida begins an eight-match homestand that will prove pivotal for its postseason hopes.

The Bulls' latest match was on March 6 when they faced No. 49 Texas A&M. South Florida was unable to add a victory to the win column and left College Station 6-9 on the year after its setback.

Davide Tortora, however, made his way back to the ITA rankings coming in at No. 106 this week.

Although he could not claim victory in Monday's match at Texas A&M, Tortora went three sets – 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 (5-10) – against No. 63 Noah Schacter. He went on a four-game run en route to the first-set win.

Scouting the Pacific Tigers
This will be the first meeting between South Florida and Pacific. The 3-9 Tigers enter the morning match on the heels of a 4-2 loss to UC Irvine on Feb. 19.

Scouting the UNC Wilmington Seahawks
The Bulls will finish off their day facing UNC Wilmington. UNCW sits at 4-4 on the year after a 4-0 loss on Wednesday to Florida Atlantic. This will be the tenth meeting between the two teams. The last match was a March 11, 2020, resulting in a 5-2 South Florida win.
