TAMPA (March 23, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls host the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams for the first time since the teams were both members of the Metro League in 1995. The Bulls and Rams also spent time together previously in the Sun Belt. The weekend set will be South Florida's final non-conference series.
USF most recently dropped its midweek tilt at No. 19 FGCU on Tuesday where the Bulls faced their seventh Top 25 opponent of the year. Prior to that, the Bulls earned their first weekend series win of the year against Army on March 17-19.
VCU posted a 42-20 record in 2022 where the Rams came one win away from a Super Regional berth. VCU is one of six teams on USF's schedule this season that reached an NCAA Regional.
Drew Brutcher enters the weekend riding a five-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 18 consecutive games. Travis Sankovich has reached base safely in nine straight ballgames and freshman Eric Snow owns a seven-game hitting streak. Fellow freshman Rafael Betancourt has been on a tear at the plate since making his collegiate debut last week.
