Bulls host Charlotte and Stetson Friday, travel to Miami Sunday

Men’s Tennis hosts a pair of matches on Friday, February 2 in Tampa.

TAMPA (February 1, 2024) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team returns home for a doubleheader on Friday, February 1. The Bulls (2-1) host the Charlotte 49ers (4-1) at 10 a.m. and the Stetson Hatters (1-2) at 2:30 p.m.

USF will then hit the road on Sunday, February 4 to take on the Miami Hurricanes (5-1).

The Bulls opened their spring slate with a 6-1 win at home over Florida Southern College. South Florida then dropped a 4-0 decision on the road to No. 6 Tennessee before closing out the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 4-1 triumph over Washington.

Alvin Tudorica is the ITA's No. 27-ranked singles player entering the spring. Tudorica and teammate Erik Grevelius are ranked No. 9 nationally.

Charlotte, a new member of the AAC this season, won three straight matches to open the spring before falling at Virginia Tech last weekend, 5-2. The 49ers posted wins over Queens, The Citadel and UNC Asheville, and are heading to Tampa coming off a 4-3 win at Bellarmine.

Charlotte's lone win of the spring to date is also over The Citadel.

Miami holds wins over Georgia Southern, Wisconsin, Buffalo, Mercer and Tulane. The Hurricanes' only setback this spring was a 4-0 loss at No. 13 Arizona last weekend.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2022-23 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
