Tampa, Fla. May 21, 2024 – The South Florida Track and Field team will open competition at the NCAA East Regionals in Lexington, Ky. on Wednesday. The meet is a four-day gendered competition, with the men beginning their first round on Wednesday, then the women following with their first round on Thursday.
Friday, the men will move on to quarterfinal competitions in track events. The women will close out the meet with their quarterfinal competitions in track events on Saturday.
Field events will be spaced out over the four days, with competitions beginning in first round stages and advancing on to quarterfinals the same day.
The Bulls have a program record 33 athletes, 22 men and 11 women, vying for their chance to advance on to the NCAA Championships June 5-8 in Eugene ,Ore.
The full meet will be streamed on ESPN+. Below is the full schedule of USF competitors for each day of competition.
WEDNESDAY (MEN'S FIRST ROUND)
Men's Track competition begins at 6:00 p.m. with the 110m hurdles first round featuring Micheal Bourne III and
Tyler Drew.
The men's field competition will begin for South Florida at the same time as track, as
Goodness Iredia competes in the first-round long jump with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
At 6:30 p.m.,
Kobe Babin and
Noah Bitter will compete for South Florida in the first-round pole vault with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
Then at 7:00 p.m.
Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and
Jaleel Croal will compete in the first-round 100m dash.
About 25 minutes later the first-round 400m dash competition will take place and feature
Tre'Sean Bouie and
Daunte O'Banion.
At 8:20 p.m., the first-round 400m hurdles competition will begin and see
Devontie Archer,
Markel Jones,
Darian Mills, and Bourne III compete.
Then at 8:45 p.m., the first-round 200m dash competition will see
Shevioe Reid, Saminu,
Nathan Metelus, and Croal race.
THURSDAY (WOMEN'S FIRST ROUND)
At 1:00 p.m.,
Antonia Sealy will compete in the first-round javelin throw with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
Then at 6:00 p.m.,
Shaniya Benjamin will compete in the first-round long jump with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
To finish up the field competition for the day, 6:30 p.m. will be when Jazmyn James competes in the first-round shot put with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
At 7:25 p.m.,
Amenda Saint Louis and
Je'Nyia Burton will compete in the first-round 400m dash competition.
Then at 8:20 p.m., the first-round 400m hurdles competition will begin and see
Chakiya Plummer compete.
Lastly at 8:45 p.m., the first-round 200m dash competition will see
Zahria Allers-Liburd, Benjamin, and
Terren Peterson compete.
FRIDAY (MEN'S QUARTERFINALS)
At 1:00 p.m.,
Vincent Ugwoke will kick off South Florida action and compete in the first-round discus throw with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds.
Next at 2:00 p.m.,
Kendell Mosley will compete in the first-round high jump with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds.
Track action will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the 4x100m relay quarterfinal. It will feature a four-athlete combination chosen from the likes of
Zayquan Lincoln, Croal, Reid, Saminu, Metelus,
Shomari Pettigrew,
JeyQuan Smith, and
Jermaine Dyges.
At 6:00 p.m.,
Goodness Iredia will compete in the first-round triple jump with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds.
Should South Florida have anyone advance from the first round 110m hurdles, the quarterfinal will take place at 6:15 p.m.
The same is the case for the quarterfinals in the 100m dash at 6:35 p.m., the 400m dash at 6:50 p.m., the 400m hurdles at 7:25 p.m., and the 200m dash at 7:50 p.m.
At 8:45 p.m., the 4x400m relay quarterfinals will take place and feature a four-athlete combination chosen from the likes of Bouie, Reid,
Gabriel Moronta, Metelus, Archer, Jones, Mills, and O'Banion.
SATURDAY (WOMEN'S QUARTERFINALS)
At 1:00 p.m., Jazmyn James will kick off South Florida action and compete in the first-round discus throw with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds.
Track action will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the 4x100m relay quarterfinal. It will feature a four-athlete combination chosen from the likes of Allers-Liburd, Benjamin, Burton,
Gianna Hansen, Peterson, and
Lynette Scutari.
Then at 6:00 p.m.,
Mimansa Dahiya and
Ryan Lewis will compete in the first-round triple jump with the potential to advance to the quarterfinal rounds right after.
Should South Florida have anyone advance from the first round 400m dash, the quarterfinal will take place at 6:50 p.m.
The same is the case for the quarterfinals in the 400m hurdles at 7:25 p.m. and the 200m dash at 7:50 p.m.
At 8:45 p.m., the 4x400m relay quarterfinals will take place and feature a four-athlete combination chosen from the likes of Benjamin, Allers-Liburd, Peterson, Burton, Saint Louis, and Plummer.

The USF track and field men's team won the 2024 Indoor AAC Championship. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the men's high jump as a Bull. The team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
