Women’s Basketball Earns WBCA Honor Roll Special Mention

Tampa, Fla. – July 26, 2024 – South Florida women's basketball was honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Wednesday with a team honor roll special mention. The Bulls finished out the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.377 GPA.
 
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
 
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew.  "The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
 
South Florida was one of six American Athletic Conference members to earn the academic distinction this season, as it is joined by Tulsa, North Texas, Tulane, UAB, and Charlotte.

South Florida women's basketball has made 18 postseason tournament appearances and had nine NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez's 24 seasons. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided the Bulls to 11 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2008-09 WNIT championship, has won over 450 career games, and is the all-time wins leader in the American Athletic Conference.
