TAMPA, Fla. (December 29, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's basketball team ends 2025 with the American Conference opener against Rice inside the Yuengling Center. The Bulls (7-6) and the Owls (10-3) are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip on ESPN+ on Tuesday, December 30.
On Tuesday, fans will have the opportunity to have their faces painted as well as a character painted.
The Bulls finished the nonconference slate with a 6-2 record at home. South Florida has won at least six nonconference games inside the Yuengling Center for the last four seasons. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, USF has posted a record of 141-30 inside the YC. USF has gone 56-5 (.918) at home in non-conference games since 2017-18, best in the American over that time frame. That is the 21st best among all DI schools in that period (min. 10 games).
Setting The Stage:
South Florida has had a winning record in regular-season non-conference play in each of the last 12 seasons (since 2014-15). The Bulls are one of 34 DI teams to do so in each season over that time frame. Against Navy,
Stefanie Ingram became the third USF player this century to have at least 15 points, 10 assists, and one or zero turnovers in a game. The other two are Shantia Grace (January 16, 2007) and Anedra Gilmore (February 2, 2004).
Series History:
South Florida and Rice will meet for the seventh time on Tuesday. The Bulls lead the series 4-2 and have won the last three meetings, including a 69-62 victory in the American Tournament Championship game. USF is 2-1 at home against Rice.
Note-A-Bulls:
Carla Brito had 21 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks versus Navy, a stat line that has not been matched by any other DI player this season. No other USF player this century has reached those marks in a single game.
L'or Mputu is one of two American Conference players this season with at least 40 offensive rebounds and 50 defensive rebounds, along with North Texas' Megan Nestor. She is one of 11 DI players since the beginning of last season to have at least 1,000 minutes played, eight rebounds per game, and a 57.0 field-goal percentage. She has recorded at least four rebounds and one made field goal in 36 straight games, the 10th-longest active streak in DI. The only USF player with a longer streak this century is Maria Jesperson (38 from March 2017 to March 2018).
Stefanie Ingram is one of six DI players this season who have at least 75 assists and 15 made threes. The only other USF player this century to reach those marks through 13 games of a season is Elisa Pinzan (2020-21, 2021-22). She has accounted for 41.1 percent of the team's assists this season, the second-highest share in the American and 13th highest among all DI players. The last USF player to finish a season with a higher share of the category was Elisa Pinzan in 2020-21 (43.2%). She has recorded at least two assists in all 13 games this season. That is the longest streak to begin a campaign by any USF player since Elisa Pinzan's 23-game stretch to begin 2020-21.
Additional Notes:
The Bulls have 11 different players with at least 10 free-throw attempts this season. That is most in the American Conference and tied for second most in Division I.
USF has four different players this season averaging at least 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, tied for the most in the American Conference (Rice, UAB). The last time the team finished with that many players was in 2021-22 (also four).
USF's active roster has played in a combined 859 games at the Division I level. That is the most among all American Conference teams and tied for ninth in Division I.
South Florida has had 89.2 percent of its assists this season come from upperclassmen. That is the second-highest share in the American (Wichita State – 100.0) and 32nd in DI.
The Bulls have 10 different players this season who have recorded a double-digit scoring game. That is the most in the American and more than USF had all of last season (eight).
South Florida is a perfect 46-0 since 2000-01 when scoring at least 90 points. The Bulls are one of 12 DI teams with at least 45 wins without a loss in such games over that period.
