USF Softball Surges Past Louisville

Anne Long earns her second career win.

TAMPA, Fla., February 22, 2025 – Anne Long and Payton Dixon struck out a season-high seven batters in the University of South Florida softball team's (11-4) defeated the Louisville Cardinals, 6-1, on Saturday evening at the USF Softball Stadium.
 
The Bulls struck first, scoring five runs in the second inning. Josie Foreman started the inning with her first home run of the season. A walk and a double put two Bulls on board. DaNia Brooks cleared the bases with a triple to left-center.
 
Kathy Garcia-Soto brought in a run on fielder's choice before Olivia Elliott followed in Foreman's footsteps with a solo home run to right field.
 
Louisville scored one run in the third inning on an RBI single. South Florida added a run off a Louisville error.
 
Anne Long earned the second win of her career after pitching 4.1 innings and striking out two. She held the Cards to one run. Payton Dixon pitched the final 2.2 innings, holding Louisville to one hit and striking out three. Neither Long or Dixon allowed a walk.
