TAMPA (March 11, 2025)-Â South Florida comes in at No. 23 in the latest ITA rankings, after their biggest upset in 10 years over the No. 13 UCF Knights on Sunday, March 9. The last time the Bulls were ranked Top 25 was back in 2019 when they ended their season in the No. 23 spot. This newest ranking matches head coach Ashley Fischer's highest ranking while coaching at South Florida.
No. 23 University of South Florida's Men's Tennis team (12-3) return home for a four-match home stand. South Florida comes off a three-game win streak, including a 6-1 win over No. 13 UCF on Sunday, March 9.
The Bulls will face off against No. 35 Penn on Wednesday, March 12 at. 1:30 PM. The Quakers (14-3) are on a six-game win streak as they travel to Tampa, Fla. The Bulls are 3-0 against the Quakers in previous matchups, their last meet-up being in 2020, where South Florida came out on top with a score of 4-0.
The Bulls have won nine of the last 10 matchups, with the only loss being against No. 2 TCU.
Hugo Car, the reigning American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, is on a 10-game win streak in Singles, including a win against the No. 11 ranked player from No. 2 TCU.
Agustin Cuellar, also a previous AAC Player of the Week, remains undefeated in singles play, with a record of 10-0.
Stepan Mruzek is 9-1, while
Gughi Verdese is 9-4 in singles.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2024-25 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
