USF Track and Field: Dolce Earns Gold Medal on Second Day of American Outdoor Championships

Dolce is the first American Conference outdoor pole vault champion in program history

DENTON, Texas (May 15, 2026) – Ella Dolce earned a gold medal in the pole vault, jumping an outdoor-best 3.99m, on Friday at Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium to highlight South Florida's efforts at the American Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
 
Dolce became the first American Conference outdoor pole vault champion in program history. She was tied with Charlotte's Rachel Venter before winning the tiebreaker jump-off on her third attempt.
   
The women sit in seventh place with 22 points, while the men are in 10th place with three points.
 
Throws
Esteisy Salas Lozano scored three points in the women's shot put, throwing 15.23m to finish sixth.
 
Kaden Banks placed sixth in the men's shot put with a season-best 16.87m.
 
Jumps
Tristen Evatt earned four points in the women's long jump with a season-best 6.01m to place fifth.
 
Sprints
Three Bulls advanced to the men's 400m final. Kelsey Singleton won the preliminary with a time of 46.30. Markel Jones finished sixth with a personal-best time of 46.66, while Nathan Metelus won his heat in 47.72.
 
Skyler Watts finished sixth with a season-best 400m time of 54.32 to advance to the final.
 
Jaleel Croal placed second in the 100m, crossing in 10.14 to advance to Saturday's final. Cayden Broadnax also advanced to the final with a season-best time of 10.22.
 
Hurdles
Doris Quainoo delivered a season-best 100m hurdles time of 13.26, finishing third to qualify for the final.
 
Kahiem Carby advanced to the 110m hurdles final with a personal-best time of 13.72.
 
Middle Distance
Karim Belmahdi broke the facility record with an 800m time of 1:49.16. Nicolas Dovalovsky followed with a season-best 1:50.60, placing second.
 
Mercy Angaamchaab won her heat in a close race, posting an 800m time of 2:12.01 to finish fourth overall.
