Bulls Drop Heartbreaker To No. 6/6 LSU Wednesday Night

TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2006) – University of South Florida senior All-America and National Player of the Year candidate Jessica Dickson (Ocala, FL) had 22 points and nine rebounds in the 60-48 loss to No. 6/6 Louisiana State University Wednesday night at the Sun Dome.

The Bulls drop to 11-3 on the season while the Tigers are now 14-1 overall.

USF opened the final non-conference game of the season with an eight-minute, 16-2 rally, led by Dickson's nine points, including one from long range.

Over the next 10 minutes, LSU made a 21-4 run, clawing their way back into the game and overturning the Bulls' early lead. The Bulls fought back to lead 28-23 at the half.

Dickson had 17 points in the first half while junior forward ChiChi Okpaleke (Tampa, FL) grabbed six rebounds.

In the second half, the Bulls held off the Tigers until the 11-minute mark, when LSU knotted the score at 37-all.

The Tigers then took the game over, hitting two-point buckets, inching their way to a 60-48 victory over the Bulls.

Sophomore Shantia Grace (Sarasota, FL) added 14 points and three assists to Dickson's 22 points and nine rebounds. Okpaleke ended with 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

The Bulls forced the Tigers into 22 turnovers while committing just 15 of their own.

USF returns to the Sun Dome for BIG EAST play on Saturday, Jan. 6 to host Cincinnati at 7 p.m.
