TAMPA, Fla. ? Not even 20 mph winds could stop the No. 34-ranked University of South Florida men's tennis team as they blew by the Georgia State Panthers, 5-0, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The victory was USF's sixth-straight match, moving them to 9-3 on the season.
Due to strong winds in the area, the match was moved back two hours to 3 p.m.
With USF and GSU split at 1-1 in doubles, the No. 2 tandem of Lucas Jovita and Diego Toledo won a close 8-6 battle to pick up the coveted doubles point.
With momentum on their side, the Green and Gold took four singles matches en route to the 5-0 victory.
No. 78 Jovita, Thomas Estrada, Michael Nusslein and Diego Toledo each earned victories on the afternoon.
Due to the late start of the match, Mahmoud Hamed and Jamal Adderley were unable to finish their matched on courts two and three.
The Bulls will now travel to the bayou on Wednesday, March 12 to take on the No. 44 LSU Tigers. The first serve is set for 4 p.m. The match with be USF's seventh match (3-3) against a ranked opponent this season.
