CINCINNATI, Ohio - CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Despite out-hitting the Bearcats 9-8, the University of South Florida baseball team lost 5-4 to Cincinnati in the second game of the double header Saturday afternoon in Ohio.

The Bulls drop to 11-10 overall and 3-3 in the BIG EAST.

Freshman Ryan Lockwood was 3-for-4 in the game with a pair of doubles and a single up the middle. Juniors Brandon Smith and Trey Manz each tallied two hits and scored one run in the game.

Sophomore Matt Quevedo, who made his fifth start of the season, struck out five in 6.2 innings of work. Sophomore Shawn Sanford came in to close the game, allowing no runs from no hits in 1.1 IP.

After being held scoreless through three innings, the Bulls collected four runs in the fourth to take the 4-3 lead. Cincinnati answered with two in the bottom of the fifth to earn the lead for good.

Senior Joey Angelberger was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth, then was moved around on a double from Lockwood and a drawn walk by Smith. A double by Manz, his second hit of the game, drove in Angelberger to put USF on the board. Designated hitter Stephen Hunt then drew a walk, picking up his third-career RBI. Rey reached on a fielder's choice, which scored Smith, the Bulls' third run of the game. Freshman Jon Koscso drove in the final run of the inning with a single to the right side.

The Bulls continue their five-game road series next week as USF travels to Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday and to North Florida on Wednesday for non-conference midweek action. Tuesday's game in Fort Myers starts at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, the first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Jacksonville.
