The Bulls jumped out to a 5-0 lead on a jumper by Janae Stokes with 17:36 left in the half, only to have the Golden Eagles use a 7-2 run, capped off by a Courtney Weibel three-point shot, to tie the game at seven-all.
USF would push its lead back to five points, 12-7, when Melissa Dalembert tipped in her own missed shot with 12:35 left before the intermission.
Angel Robinson would tie the game for the third time in the first stanza, 19-19, on a jumper with 6:03 remaining, and then, following a Jessica Lawson turnover, Jessica Pachko would give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game, 21-19, on a lay-up with 5:27 left in the half.
Aside from the Bulls evening the game up at 21-21 on a driving lay-up by Leondra Doomes-Stephens with 3:13 left, Marquette would keep the advantage the rest of the way entering the locker with a 26-21 lead.
The Golden Eagles would shoot 29 percent (9-31) in the first half while USF hit for just 28.6 percent (8-28) of its shots from the floor in the first stanza.
In the second half, both teams would come out shooting considerably better from the floor, with Marquette hitting for 57.1 percent (4-7) from the field and the Bulls 50 percent (4-8) in the first 4:30 of the second stanza.
Marquette would keep up the intensity behind Robinson who would score six of the Golden Eagles' first 10 points, however the Bulls' Sequoyah Griffin would keep USF close with eight of its first 10 points.
Both teams would go back and forth during the second half with the Golden Eagles trying to pull away but couldn't.
The Bulls would cut the Marquette lead to three points, 34-31, on a jumper by Stokes with 15:56 left.
