Bulls Wrap Up Gator Invitational

No. 43 Bulls Fall to No. 7 Gators 6-1

TAMPA- The University of South Florida men's tennis team traveled to Gainesville on Sunday to compete against the No. 7 Florida Gators. The Bulls fell to the Gators 6-1.

Junior Jamal Adderley and junior Romain Deridder started things out for the Bulls in their flight three doubles match against Bob Van Overbeek and Billy Federhofer. Adderley and Deridder fell to Overbeek and Federhofer 8-2.

Senior Thomas Estrada and freshman Peter Frank competed in the flight one doubles spot against Antoine Benneteau and Alexandre Lacroix. Benneteau and Lacroix beat Estrada and Frank 8-2. With the win Florida earned the doubles point and the 1-0 advantage heading into singles matches.

Sophomore Wael Kilani and sophomore Yannick Yoshizawa also competed in doubles action against Sekou Bangoura and Burkhardt. It was a close match between the two teams but in the end Kilani and Yoshizawa lost 8-5 to Bangoura and Burkhardt.

Deridder started out singles competition for the Bulls in his flight five singles match against Bangoura. Bangoura rolled past Deridder in two sets 6-1, 6-1.

Sophomore Mark Oljaca competed in the flight four singles spot against Overbeek. Oljaca fell to Overbeek in two sets 6-2, 6-1.

No. 91 Adderley competed in the flight one singles spot for USF on Sunday against No. 17 Lacroix. Lacroix downed Adderley 6-2, 6-4. That gave the Gators the fourth and final point that they needed to pick up the win over the Bulls.

Freshman Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard also competed in singles action for the Bulls in the flight six singles spot against Nassim Slilam. Slilam beat Gerard 6-1, 7-5.

No. 59 Kilani picked up the Bulls only win of the day in his flight two singles match against No. 110 Burkhardt. Kilani took care of Burkhardt in two sets 6-1, 6-2.

Frank closed things out for the Bulls in his flight three singles match against Benneteau. Frank fell to Benneteau in two sets 6-3, 6-0.

The Bulls will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Miami to take on the Miami Hurricane.
