TAMPA – USF's aces combined to throw a one-hitter while Dani Wayt produced the only run the Bulls needed in a 1-0 victory at Villanova in 11 innings Thursday afternoon.

Lindsey Richardson struck out six and allowed the lone hit in the first 5 2/3 innings before Sara Nevins (12-5) took over and struck out nine the rest of the way in the first game of a doubleheader at the Villanova Softball Complex.

Kate Poppe (11-8) went the whole way for Villanova and ran into trouble when Nicolette Levine led the 11th inning off with a single down the right field line. Levine moved over to second on a throwing error and advanced to third on sacrifice bunt by Stephanie Juergens. Wayt followed with a run-scoring sacrifice fly to left field that helped the Bulls win for the 20th time in their past 21 games.

USF (26-11, 4-1) goes for the series sweep when game two of the doubleheader begins at 2:40 p.m.
