Bulls to Compete for Doubles Title

ATHENS, Ga. (Oct. 19, 2014)—The 12th-ranked duo of Roberto Cid and Sasha Gozun will compete for the doubles title at the ITA Southeast Regional Monday.

The pair came into the regional as the No. 2 overall seed. In the semifinals, they took down UNF's Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek, 6-3, 7-5. The tandem will face Eric Diaz and Austin Smith of Georgia in the finals.

Cid also competed in singles Sunday but saw his day end in the semifinals. The junior started his day taking down Wayne Montgomery of Georgia, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5) to advance to the semifinals.

In his final match of the day, Cid battled another Georgia player in No. 17 Nathan Pasha who came in to the tournament as the No. 3 seed. Cid and Pasha battled to tiebreakers in their first two sets with each taking one. In the final set, Cid came up just short, ultimately dropping the match, 6-7 (8), 7-6 (1), 6-2.

Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz was also in action in the consolation bracket. Muniz dropped his quarterfinal match to Michael Kay of Georgia Tech, 7-5, 6-4.

Gozun and Cid will compete after the conclusion of the singles championship matches. Should the pair win, they will have an automatic bid to this year's ITA National Indoor Championships in New York.
