SAN DIEGO (Jan. 29, 2014)—The 21st-ranked USF men's tennis team dropped its second match in as many outings, Thursday afternoon at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.

Attempting to rebound from a 4-1 loss to Penn State the previous weekend, the Bulls (3-2) dropped a 4-2 decision to the 41st-ranked Toreros (1-2).

The Bulls dropped the doubles point with sixth-ranked Sasha Gozun and Roberto Cid falling, 6-4, at the premier spot. San Diego clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot as Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz and Vadym Kalyuzhnyy were unable to hold off Romain Kalaydjian and Uros Petronijevic.

Gozun and Cid both rebounded from their doubles loss by picking up the only two singles wins for the Bulls.  Cid picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 53 Uros Petronijevic at the No. 1 spot while Gozun added a 7-6 (8), 6-4 win over Romain Kalaydjian.

Freshman Justin Roberts played up at the No. 5 spot for the first time this season against San Diego. The Nassau, Bahamas native won his first set 6-2, before dropping the next two, 6-2, 6-3.

USF will continue their California trip with a match against No. 47 Pepperdine on Saturday, Jan. 31.
