TAMPA, FEB. 23, 2015 – USF's freshmen class has played a major role for the Bulls early on this season and the American Athletic Conference has taken notice as Lauren Evans was named to the conference honor roll on Monday.
The freshmen first baseman led the Bulls with a .538 batting average, five runs and seven hits at the USF Wilson DeMarini Tournament last weekend. Evans also led the team in slugging and on-base percentage over the weekend while helping the Bulls advance to the tournament championship game on Sunday.
The Land O' Lakes, Fla., native posted a career high three hits against Dartmouth on Saturday and then recorded a career high three RBIs in the Bulls 18-5 semifinal win over Marshall later that night.
Evans now ranks in the top three on the team in batting average (.400), hits (12), runs (13), RBIs (nine), slugging percentage (.744) and on-base percentage (.526) this season.
The Bulls are back in action this Friday with a doubleheader against Illinois and Georgia Southern as they begin play in the USF Under Armour Invitational at the USF Softball Stadium. Purchase tickets HERE.
