MESA, ARIZ., MARCH 15, 2015 - Redshirt freshman Maria Rodriguez continued to pile up the birdies in Sunday's Clover Cup finale, notching four in a span of just eight holes to help the USF women's golf team to its 10th place finish in the 15-team event.
The Bulls recorded 11 birdies as a team on the final day, shooting 314 (+26) to settle just behind Nebraska in the 10th spot with a three-day total of 932 (+68), a full six strokes ahead of 11th-place Tulsa. No. 44 Arizona State won the event, shooting 885 (+21), 11 strokes ahead of second-place Notre Dame.
USF sophomore Nicole Autrique matched Rodriguez's four birdies with four of her own, tying sophomore Ashley Burke for the best USF score of the day, at 78 (+6). But it was Rodriguez's steady play that vaulted her into the top 25 individually, using a 79 (+7) Sunday to finish at 229 (+13), a stroke better than Burke (tied for 29th overall), and three strokes ahead of Autrique (tied for 34th).
Senior Erin Selfridge tied Rodriguez with a 79 (+7) Sunday, finishing at 241(+25) in the tournament.
